the modern man finds use of pesticides/chemicals to kill pests and so this greatly upsets the balance of the Earth's energy resulting in the disturbance of harmony that is the driving force of our existence and every living organism on our ...planet. there are definitely holistic methods of protecting crops, not as efficient as using chemicals, but they work and have worked years before man conquered the periodic table of elements. man takes shortcuts that profit him in the short run, however prove to be greatly destructive in the future. man must change his ways in order restore balance to the force, this will not occur unless humanity heeds its inner voice, given expression by the prophets, history, recognizing the present, resisting the machine, and returning to the pastoral way of life. - oz

I agree with you, however, those holistic methods for protecting crops are nearly impossible to employ on the current agricultural situation (at least in the United States). Everything is automated. Our farmers utilize machinery now, not manpower. For us to effectively protect the crops grown in the United States using methods other than pesticides, the cost of producing a single pound of grain or corn would increase exponentially. There are a lot of companies and organizations who are doing work on new, organic pesticides that target individual species. They are even introducing new strains of mold and fungi that target specific insects and have little to no effect on the surrounding environment. Well, other than the fact that they are attempting to erase an entire species' existence out of a given area.
